Perpetual Spring

This is my favourite time of the year. Nature is alive! You can hear, see and smell it. The birds are singing, the flowers are blooming and the temperatures are warmer. I dislike the heat of summer and the long bleakness of winter. But the colours of spring and autumn, the perfect temperatures, the rain and the sun? Lovely!

And today was the most wonderful spring day. The sun was shining, it was warm, the air was filled with the wonderful smells of flowers. So I decided to go out and take some pictures. I am really happy with how they turned out.

Gardens are also good places
to sulk. You pass beds of
spiky voodoo lilies
and trip over the roots
of a sweet gum tree,
in search of medieval
plants whose leaves,
when they drop off
turn into birds
if they fall on land,
and colored carp if they
plop into water.

Suddenly the archetypal
human desire for peace
with every other species
wells up in you. The lion
and the lamb cuddling up.
The snake and the snail, kissing.
Even the prick of the thistle,
queen of the weeds, revives
your secret belief
in perpetual spring,
your faith that for every hurt
there is a leaf to cure it.

Love the story in the pictures you’ve shared. Love the contrast of your smooth pale skin against the rough bark and the light of the sun through leaves is so golden & playful around you. Love your new hair!

  7. I am totally with you on spring and autumn. Autumn is my favorite, and spring is a close second! Gorgeous images, Devie!
